- Dr Jackson is a Consultant Optometrist with over 30 years experience in cornea, contact lens, low vision, visual impairment and paediatric optometry.
- Working out of the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, he undertakes a fortnightly clinic in Cathedral Eye Clinic, Belfast. The clinic is delighted to receive the services of this highly-respected, capable and versatile optometrist.
- Dr Jackson has extensive experience in specialist contact lens and keratoconic clinics.
- He has published many research, clinical audit and service review papers and is a respected presenter at local, national and international conferences.

Dr Jackson, who qualified in Optometry from Glasgow, has worked at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, University of California Berkeley, The Australian College of Optometry and has had visiting professorial appointments over a 20 year period at Queens University Belfast, University of Ulster Coleraine, University of Melbourne and Dublin Institute of Technology. He has also undertaken work in many developing world countries and is currently very active in service development in Zimbabwe.
Jonathan, in addition to holding core Optometric qualifications, has a PhD in corneal physiology and Fellowships at the British Contact Lens association and the American Academy of Optometry. He is an Independent Prescribing Optometrist with diplomas in therapeutic prescribing and Low Vision.
