Christopher Crawford is Head of Optometry Services at Cathedral Eye Clinic, where he leads a wide range of specialist eye care services. With extensive experience across both hospital and private practice, Christopher is dedicated to delivering the highest standards of patient care and advancing innovative treatments in Northern Ireland.

He provides expert management of complex eye conditions, including the fitting of specialist medical contact lenses for patients with irregular corneal shapes. Christopher is also one of the few optometrists in Northern Ireland accredited to perform YAG laser procedures, which can significantly improve vision for patients following cataract surgery. In addition, he runs the clinic’s Advanced Dry Eye Service, offering the latest therapies such as Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), punctal plugs, and amniotic membrane treatments to help patients struggling with severe dry eye disease.

Working closely alongside Cathedral’s Consultant Ophthalmologists, Christopher plays a key role in the development of cataract and laser eye surgery pathways, ensuring patients receive world-class care from their first consultation through to post-operative follow-up. His qualifications include the Diploma in Independent Prescribing, the Professional Certificates in Glaucoma and Medical Retina, and the BCLA Certificate in Dry Eye.

Beyond his clinical role, Christopher is also passionate about education and professional development. He regularly presents on a national stage, lecturing and leading workshops for other optometrists on topics such as refractive surgery, anterior eye disease, corneal foreign body removal, and post-operative cataract management.
