COVID-19 information page

At Cathedral Eye Clinic, we have always been committed to providing the very highest standard of care and cleanliness possible to our patients. As we continually monitor the latest advice and guidance, we have strict control measures in place so that we can maintain social distancing during your visit. We thought it would be helpful to answer some important FAQs you may have below, please click on the sections you wish to read below.

On arrival you will be:

  • Greeted by one of our staff at the ‘Welcome & Sanitising Station’ and asked similar screening questions again.
  • We will provide sanitising hand gel, as well as a fresh facemask (please bring your own if possible).
  • Your temperature will be taken by a non-contact digital forehead thermometer.
  • We will record your responses and your temperature (and that of everyone who enters the clinic).

If all is well, we will proceed with your appointment. 

If you are a new patient, we would ask that you pre-complete the patient information & health questionnaire prior to entering the clinic and email to [email protected]. This is so that we can reduce direct interactions within the clinic, where possible.

We have limited the number of patients in the clinic at any one time in order to allow for interpersonal distancing. Signage will be on display as reminders to keep to the distancing advice. Your time in the reception areas will be minimised.

We have removed all magazines and other reading materials from the patient and staff areas. You will have access to hand-sanitiser throughout the clinic so that you can use this as you move from one area to another. To maximise safety, we will not be providing snacks, tea, coffee or other refreshments. If you need a glass of water, we will most certainly provide this in paper cups that can be disposed of. 

Our staff will all be wearing fresh scrubs/uniforms and masks. Our staff will be screened daily for symptoms, temperature and contacts. We are organising COVID-19 testing links for staff, for use when clinically appropriate. This will help us with tracking and isolating the few members of staff who may have contracted or come in contact with household members that may have contracted COVID-19.

Our staff will remain in departmental bubbles with (where possible) no crossover and social distancing amongst staff will ALWAYS be adhered to.

You will notice our staff perform many repeat instances of alcohol wipe-downs on our examination equipment and furniture during your appointment. 

We kindly ask that you do not bring someone with you into your appointments. If you feel it very important that you bring someone, please call us to discuss this.

No cash payments will be accepted, you may call prior to your appointment to pay over the phone or card payments will be accepted in the clinic.

You will receive a call shortly from your Patient Care Coordinator who will schedule you in at a convenient time. Please be aware that the clinic is not opening at its full capacity so we can ensure effective social distancing, therefore, it may take us a little longer to reschedule your appointment.  As soon as we are able, we will reschedule you as a priority. Of course, please call the clinic on 02890 322020 if you have any concerns regarding your eyesight.
