World Keratoconus Day 2017

What is Keratoconus?

Keratoconus, often abbreviated to “KC”, is a non-inflammatory eye condition in which the normally round dome-shaped cornea progressively thins causing a cone-like bulge to develop. This results in significant visual impairment.

Mandy Patinkin, an American actor and comedian famous for his roles in The Princess Bride and Homeland, has keratoconus.

How can it be treated?

Cathedral Eye Clinic has availability of the simple, relatively non-invasive CXL treatment which can effectively stop the deterioration of vision in patients found to have Keratoconus.

Who should come for screening?

People between the age of 12 and 35, whose far vision has deteriorated and glasses do not help or whose astigmatism has increased lately. Those who have relatives with the condition are particularly susceptible.

Why come for screening?

Keratoconus is a progressive disease that is preventable.

If you would like to book a screening for keratoconus, fill in your details below and member of our Patient Care Team will be in contact shortly.
