Colm McAlinden BSc (Hons) Optom MSc

Colm McAlinden BSc (Hons) Optom MSc is currently undertaking a PhD with the University of Ulster in affiliation with the Cathedral Eye Clinic, Belfast and the supervision of Professor JE Moore. His research focuses primarily on the optical changes to the eye following refractive surgery. This research involves the investigation into objective and subjective results of procedures such laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) and laser subepithelial keratomileusis (LASEK).

Colm graduated from
Cardiff University with a first class honours in Optometry before undertaking subsequent training in Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. Following this training, he passed the College of Optometrists professional qualifying examinations in Cambridge, UK.

In 2009, Colm was awarded a certificate in cataract and refractive surgery and later in the year awarded a Masters (MSc) for his research in contact lens technology from the University of Ulster.

Recent studies conducted by Colm have been presented by him across the world at national and international conferences. A selected list of his recent conference presentations and publications are listed below.

Recent conference presentations:
