Anterior Segment Reconstruction

At Cathedral our surgeons specialise in the reconstruction and repair of injuries to the eye.  Anterior segment injuries could involve traumatic blunt force or penetrating injuries to the lids, conjunctiva, cornea, iris and the lens of the eye.  Trauma to the anterior segment of the eye is often seen and if left untreated could lead to loss of vision or severe infection.  It is imperative that that repair is carried out as soon as possible to reduce these complications.  Treatments can range from in-office procedures for mild trauma such as a small foreign body on the ocular surface to surgical closure for penetrating wounds to the eye.
